ICOMOS, established in 1965, an advisor to UNESCO, is a global non-governmental organisation that brings together all professionals and supporters of heritage preservation throughout the world.

India ICOMOS provides a national framework and a forum for the preservation and conservation of heritage in India .

Membership of India ICOMOS is open to any individual actively engaged in the conservation and preservation of Heritage.

Members of India ICOMOS are automatically members of ICOMOS International and have the right to attend and to participate in the ICOMOS General Assembly, which is held every three years.


Through its various specialist Committees, ICOMOS members carry out many of the key objectives of the organisation. Members of Committees organize conferences, seminars and workshops and undertake research in their specialist fields.

The Committees meet several times annually at places of their choice throughout the world.

ICOMOS with its global network is responsible for the management of the world's heritage sites.

In India there are now 27 World Heritage sites, of which 22 are cultural sites and 5 Natural Sites

India ICOMOS arranges Seminars, Workshops, special lectures etc. all round the year. Publications, Papers, Articles & Press releases and other ICOMOS news are posted in this section.
